Up: Nine of a Family Killed in Road Mishap in Pratapgarh

PRAYAGRAJ: As many as nine members of a family, including five men, three women and one child, were killed when the SUV carrying them collided head-on with a truck container near Wazidpur village under the limits of Nawabganj police station of Pratapgarh district Friday early morning.

SP (Pratapgarh) Abhishek Singh told TOI that the incident took place at around 5.30am when the SUV carrying them collided with a truck container and left all nine persons dead on the spot. He added that the victims were on their way to Bhojpur in Bihar from Rajasthan. The identities of deceased are yet to be ascertained.

Police said a person was injured in the mishap and has been admitted to a hospital in Unchahar.

Villagers told police that they heard a loud collision sound and rushed to the spot. The SUV was badly damaged and the dead bodies were trapped inside it.

The police had to cut SUV to take the bodies out. All the bodies have been sent for postmortem.
