A truck got stuck in a pothole near Benakanahalli on Saturday, holding up traffic for over 30 minutes. A crane bailed it out from the tricky spot.
Residents and commuters were quick to cite the incident as an example of the problems plaguing the rubbly Bannerghatta Main Road, where the work on projects such as metro and Cauvery pipeline have created chaos. Lines of vehicles stranded in hour-long jams is a routine sight here.
According to traffic police, Bangalore Water Supply and Sewerage Board (BWSSB) had carried out some work near the stretch where the truck got stuck on Saturday.
“Two days ago, BWSSB dug up a portion in the area, which caused damage to the road. The truck became stranded because of a pothole on this stretch,” said an officer from the Mico layout traffic police station.
Residents said metro work had made matters worse. “Because of various works on the road, our travel time has shot up. BBMP must step in and restore some sense of order,” said Akshay Nanda, who lives in KEB Colony.
