Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot announced to take care of hostel and education expenses of children belonging to the families of those 24 victims who died in a bus accident on Wednesday.
The bus operating without clearances fell into Mej river near Bundi. The accident killed 24 out of 29 passengers on the bus going to attend a wedding on Wednesday.
Many people who died in the bus were related.
Ashok Gehlot attended the condolence meet for the victims and embraced an 11-year-old kid Somya who lost his parents, brother and grandfather in the bus accident.
Ashok Gehlot said that government would pay additional Rs 5 lakh to the families of the victims besides Rs 2 lakh already paid, and assured to help them in many more ways.
Ashok Gehlot said the dependents, as per their eligibility, will be covered for food safety and widow and old age pension schemes.
Ashok Gehlot ordered Divisional Commissioner, Kota, to order an enquiry into the tragedy.
Various reports have indicated lapse on part of transport department and the bus was said to be running in a poor condition.
One report said there were problems with steering and gear just before the bus fell into the river but ruling party has accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government of building a bridge with a flawed design.
