MUMBAI: Chief minister Uddhav Thackerayon Monday announced that the government will give funds, technology or facilities required for police or the Regional Transport Officeto reduce mishaps and to make roads safer.
He said, at a Road Safety Week function, that China had 94,000 fatal mishaps in 2005, while India had 98,000. While annual mishaps in China fell to 45,000, in India, they went up to 1.5 lakh.
