At least six people were killed in two separate road accidents in Nalanda and Arwal district in the last 24 hours on Monday. While five people died in Arwal late on Sunday night, a 65-year-old man was crushed to death by a speeding truck under Chandi police station in Nalanda district on Monday morning.
Reports said that one Chandrika Rai was knocked down by a speeding truck near Mosimpur village on the busy Biharsharif-Patna road under Chandi police station in Nalanda district on Monday morning. Police said that Rai, a resident of Narsanda village, had gone for a morning walk when the incident took place.
In Arwal, five people were killed when an auto-rickshaw carrying them was hit by an SUV coming from the opposite direction near Dokahara Mor under Kinjer police station late on Sunday night. The auto was on its way to Paliganj in Patna rural from Dokahara. The SUV was coming from Paliganj to Kinjer.
While four of the injured died on the spot, the fifth injured succumbed to his injuries on the way to the Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH). The deceased were identified as Vikas Kumar (25), Kundan Kumar (18), Niraj Ram (24), Saryu Bind (43) and Sharda Bind (40), all residents of Narhadi village under Sigori police station in Patna district.
The station house officer (SHO) of Kinjer police station Manoj Kumar said that the bodies were handed over to the respective families after post-mortem. The SUV and the auto-rickshaw, which were badly damaged in the accident, have been seized. The driver of the auto-rickshaw Niraj Ram was also killed in the mishap, he revealed.
