31st Road Safety Week Observed in Biswanath District

January 20, 2020 by saferoads Leave a Comment

Biswanath Chariali: The Biswanath District Transport Office conducted a series of awareness programmes on road safety as a part of the 31st Road Safety Week from January 11 to January 17 to promote safe driving, traffic discipline and awareness on the Motor Vehicle Act 2019.

The programmes commenced with flag hoisting by District Transport Officer (DTO) Mehtab Ali in the office premises at Lehugaon on January 11. A street play was held in association with ‘Murchana’ on the busy Biswanathghat Road to draw the attention of the commuters towards road safety. A procession was also taken out from the ASTC bus stand on the occasion and it moved throughout the Biswanath Chariali town. The transport officials carried out massive checking on the roads during the week. The officials, however, did not impose any penalty on the offenders and requested them to obey traffic rules.

The road safety drive was conducted in several places of Biswanath district, including Gohpur, Borgang, Chatiya and Bedeti.
