New Delhi: The Centre on Monday informed that it has extended the validity of documents related to Motor Vehicles Act and Central Motor vehicles Rules (fitness certificate, all types of permits, driving license) till June 30, 2020, to give the customers some relief due to the current disruption which has caused complete lockdown and closure of government transport offices.
As per the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) advisory, all state and Union territories should treat such documents as valid, where the expiry date is between Feb 1, 2020 to June 30, 2020.
It pointed out that the government had provided for the availability of the essential goods and production, and had allowed the vehicles for the transport of such goods/cargo.
Further, ‘non-use clause facility’ provided by VAHAN platform online, can be accessessed for suspension of tax liability, to give relief to the commercial vehicles like taxi, buses, which are non-operational as of now.
The development comes in the wake of the 21-day lockdown imposed by the government to support the transporters and essential service providers in the country, when the coronavirus outbreak has breached the 1000-mark.
